"Buzzoven was a band ahead of their time, or a band that was part of starting a trend, depending on your perspective. In the early ‘90s, these North Carolina boys were touring a lot and playing punk shows. Their regular visits to NYC garnered a loyal following and kinship with local bands. At a time when peace punks were getting into doom metal and bands with firm roots in hardcore punk started playing slow and heavy, bands like Buzzoven were right in the middle of a new genre of sludge stoner doom metal. In 1993 Buzzoven was really just a new breed of slow and heavy hardcore. Oh, what the future had in store.  - Chris Boarts Larson"  Check out Slug and Lettuce
