His music is gritty, soulful, southern, low-down and dirty. Husky Burnette’s brand new album was recorded by Andy Gibson who was the long time pedal steel player for Hank 3 and now a rock solid producer and recording engineer in Nashville. Repairing Violins of the Holocaust

At a music shop in Israel, a violin maker has been collecting stringed instruments once owned by inmates of Nazi concentration camps. Largely silent for seven decades, they now speak for horrors of the Holocaust as part of a project called "The Violins of Hope." Special correspondent David C. Barnett from WVIZ/PBS ideastream reports from Cleveland on a series of concerts and exhibits they inspired.

Original post on Razorcake

"Buzzoven was a band ahead of their time, or a band that was part of starting a trend, depending on your perspective. In the early ‘90s, these North Carolina boys were touring a lot and playing punk shows. Their regular visits to NYC garnered a loyal following and kinship with local bands. At a time when peace punks were getting into doom metal and bands with firm roots in hardcore punk started playing slow and heavy, bands like Buzzoven were right in the middle of a new genre of sludge stoner doom metal. In 1993 Buzzoven was really just a new breed of slow and heavy hardcore. Oh, what the future had in store.  - Chris Boarts Larson"  Check out Slug and Lettuce

Never underestimate the power of music, or give up on a dream!

Mandy Harvey is a singer-songwriter working on her fourth album. She was studying music in college when she lost her hearing. She sings by feeling vibrations in the floor, and by using the muscle memory of her vocal cords to sing notes.

Iranian Metalheads May Face Execution For Playing Music Deemed As Blasphemous

Iranian Metalheads May Face Execution For Playing Music Deemed As Blasphemous

Many times we forget what simple freedoms are about in America. It is easy to complain about why you don't have a better job, that liquor stores aren't open on sunday, weed should be legal, or who is the most outlaw. But, think on the big picture and the larger world around us. We actually have the freedom to be able to fully vest these ideas, see them through and to be able to make change. Fuck being an arm chair quarterback, make life happen and create a better world or get back in line with the rest of the sheep. My thoughts are with these fellas in Iran who just want to write and perform their music without being executed for going against the grain.

Singers, Take Care! Protect Yourself From Vocal Abuse

Every musical artist is responsible for their instrument. One instrument that gets taken for granted, because it's used daily for social interaction, is the voice.

Vocal abuse or misuse, such as excessive use of the voice when singing, talking, smoking, coughing, yelling, or inhaling irritants can cause abnormalities of the vocal cords, such as nodules, granulomas, polyps, or cysts. Unlike a broken guitar, you cannot purchase a new set of vocal cords. You only have one set, so you can either care for them, or hear your singing career start to disappear.

McSwain Guitars Proves That One Off Custom Gear Is Just As Important As A Great Song

If you choose to use a guitar to speak your language and also as a visual selling point, McSwain Guitars might just be right up your alley. Amazingly precise detail work and known for their solid sound, these guitars aren't just works of art, but maybe the muse you need to kick out the jams. I found out about them through links on Vimeo and once I started to explore, I just had to report back and show what I had found.
